Goldfish are being kept in outdoor ponds and aquariums all over the world. They are great fish if you want to build a garden pond. Building a garden pond requires some time from your part and some money for the materials needed. It is not hard to do and if you have another person to help you, all the work will be done in no time.
If you have decided to build a outdoor goldfish pond you must know there are three types of ponds you can choose from. There is the molded pond, concrete pond and liner ponds. If you have money and do not want to spend design your pond you can buy a molded pond or build a concrete one. Sometimes the concrete ponds are the pools. However, if you love to do your own pond design and build everything by your own, the liner pond is the answer for you. This is a lot easier to build, requires less time, very popular and you can design the shape you want.
The design of the pond can be of two two types: formal and informal ponds. The formal ponds have a circle, rectangular or oval form while the informal ponds do not have a pre-designed form. You can choose whatever type of pond you like the most or think it would look better in your garden.
The place where you build your pond is extremely important. If you live in a colder climate it is best to build a pond that is in some area more that 2 feet deep so the fish do not freeze when the surface does. If you live in a warmer climate is is best to have partial shades so that the fish have a place where to cool off. No matter in what climate you need, your pond must get full sun. To be able to maintain the water quality of your pond it should be minimum 5 feet in diameter.
Before you start digging the hole, use a rope as a template. Use the 2x4 board and the carpenters level to check the level of your pond. Place the liner in the pond and on the sides make sure you place some heavy materials, for example rocks are great for keeping the liner in place. Fill the pond with water and make necessary adjustments. Pace the tubing, filter, skimmer and pump and connect them together. To connect the tubing, use a screwdriver and some stainless steel clamps and your done. Make sure everything is working properly and now you can start doing your decorations. Add plants, fountains or water falls if you like them. To learn more about goldfish ponds visit http://goldfish2care4.com/goldfish-ponds.html.
