If you want to care for goldfish, you will need a tank to keep them. You also need to learn how to set up your goldfish tank so that you do not have problems with it later. It is important to get it right the first time.

Before you buy the goldfish tank, you must measure everything to make sure it fits. This is not a hard thing to do but it must be done. Once you know what size your aquarium is, you must measure the place you want to set it up so that it fits. If you have a lot of room, this is not necessary. Remember, you need at least 15 gallons of water for every goldfish you own. So getting the recommended size will save you from a lot of problems. Once you have the tank in place you can start setting it up. First, you need to clean the dust in the tank. After that, you need to wash the gravel in a bucket and remove the floating debris until there is not more left. You might need to wash it five times or more. You need at least 2 inches of gravel to make a substrate. Fill the tank with cold tap water. Add the bacteria supplement and water conditioner. Install the water pump and filter. You need to make it safety too. Create a drip loop so that the water on the wire runs up on your floor not in your plug.

This tank set up need to run up to a week so that you make sure you do not have problems with it. The water pump should be working correctly, the filter is populated with healthy bacteria and the water is oxygenated. Then you can add your goldfish into the tank. In the first two weeks do a daily water change of 20%. After that do this weekly. Clean the filter once a month a make it scheduled so that you do not change the water and clean the filter in the same day.
